Our Environmental Policy

Statement

At Circa Events we recognise our day to day activities have an impact on the environment and wish to reduce the potentially harmful effects of such activities whenever and wherever we can. Our policy is to meet or exceed all environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice. We are committed to the prevention of pollution and to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment. This environmental policy is the company’s statement of environmental goals which outline our commitment to continual environmental improvement.

Energy use

We will use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs whenever possible and turn off kitchen equipment, office equipment and lighting when not in use. We cook with LPG which has a smaller carbon foot print than electricity. Reusable or recycled energy will be used wherever possible.

Resources

We will improve our environmental performance by conserving energy, water, wood, paper and other resources, particularly those which are scarce or non-renewable, though efficient use and careful planning, while still providing a safe and comfortable working environment.

Products

We will consider the environmental impacts of our products at all stages of their life cycle from design to manufacturing, customer use and disposal. We will use biodegradable servicewear, recyclable and from sustainable sources wherever possible. The use of plastics on our bars have been reduced and we have plans to further reduce this in 2020.

Recycling

We will promote recycling and use of recycled and refurbished products and materials where such alternatives are economical and suitable, while reducing consumption of materials wherever possible. We have recycling and waste compacting facilities on site and waste is sorted by hand to ensure it is disposed of accordingly. Waste on events is sorted into general waste, glass and cardboard.

Waste Disposal

We will minimise waste, especially hazardous waste, in all our operations and product development and will dispose of all waste though safe and responsible methods. All of our used cooking oil is taken from our depot and turned into bio fuel by a specialist company. We are registered with the Environment Agency a lower tier waste carrier. Our compacted cardboard is taken from our depot and recycled by a specialist company.

Transportation

All of our vehicles are euro 6 compliant and along with coordinating route planning we will seek to reduce fuel consumption and lower exhaust emissions. Where possible, employees share transport to reduce costs and emissions.

Training

We include environmental issues in all company training programs and encourage the implementation by all company staff of sound environment practices.
